BeADisciple Academy

Join other high school and college-age Christians on a deeper exploration of your God, Self, and Call.

Ready to change your life?

Deepen your relationship with your Creator through in-depth Bible study.

Get a firm grasp on what the Bible says and enter into deep conversation with God by reading and thinking about scripture daily. The Academy uses a new, updated version of the DISCIPLE Bible Study as a guide through daily readings, key verses, and weekly themes.

Realize the unique gifts God has given you through conversations and exercises.

Academy Self

God made you for a reason. Discover and identify your unique gifts for ministry through reflection, conversation, and development exercises based on models of servant leadership.

Hear from others and discover how you might best use your gifts to serve.

Figure out what you’re meant to do in life. Hear the personal stories of ministry leaders as they offer their insights about the nature of God’s call on their lives. Expand your networks (and make your friends jealous) by meeting these leaders and asking them your questions.

Grow with friends. All discussions about the Bible, your gifts, and your call will be done in small groups, allowing you to get to know the other group members and support each other on this journey. You can even form your own small group so you can stay connected with friends you’ve made at summer camps, retreats, rallies, conferences, and mission trips.

Expand your horizons. In addition to this personal, small-group experience, you’ll also see what others in the Academy’s global network of young Christians are saying and thinking with our weekly hashtagged discussions on social media.

Huge impact. Short timeframe. The Academy is divided into two 12-week sessions, concurrent with the Fall and Spring school semesters (but we’ll wrap up well before finals each semester).

20 minutes a day — whenever, wherever. You’ll only need about 20 minutes every day to read the assigned chapter or two of scripture and participate in the online discussion. You don’t need any extra materials to participate — just an internet connection. You can even participate from your phone or tablet.

High quality. Low cost. The 24-week course costs just $48 per student, or the equivalent of $2 per week. That’s less than a coffee a week, people! If that’s still a bit beyond your budget, talk to someone at your home church or campus ministry. Our guess is they’d love to sponsor you.

Join the hot new trend and get a mentor. You’ll also pick an adult mentor with whom you can meet offline. It can be anyone you feel comfortable with — just ask! You’d be surprised how willing people are to sit down with you and talk about faith. Send them down to the video at the bottom of this page if they want to know more.

Meet Our Academy Director

The BeADisciple Academy is facilitated by Leah Rankin Hartman. Leah serves part-time as the Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Winfield, Kansas, and an Adjunct Faculty for Southwestern College Professional Studies. But more than that, she loves people and learning, reading and writing, music and dance, coffee and laughing. She blogs at and lives in Geuda Springs, Kansas, with her husband, Caleb, and their children, Claire and Wesley. Read more from Leah on our blog.

Be an Adult Mentor for a Participant

At BeADisciple, we believe in the power of building online community, but we know that such community must have roots at the local level. Alongside the program’s dynamic online director, Leah Hartman, and the diversity of online peer relationships, we ask that each youth and college participant have a mentor who will meet with them face-to-face throughout their experience in the Academy. Relationships within their local community as well as the broader online community will make the Academy even more valuable for the students enrolled.
